People believed that he'd be good for the working class, even though he's rarely even tried to appeal to them.
People believed he'd bring prices down, even though he outright said he'd raise tariffs and anyone who knows how tariffs works knows that would raise prices.
Trump has a cult of personality around himself specifically; it doesn't extend to other people who are similar to him.
