I don't normally let machines tell me what to do, but the top notification on my phone says "Order cheesecake - you deserve it!" and I'm thinking maybe I should give this a chance.

i love ordering something from japan to see if my debit card will work with international orders (or if we'd need to go to the credit union to get that set up) and then realizing that i preordered something and amazon japan doesn't charge for your preorder until the item is ready to ship and that's not going to help me considering this item isn't released until the end of january so i had to order something else that is in-stock to see if the order will go through

well i did order something i actually wanted to get and it actually ended up just slightly cheaper than ordering it from US-based retailers lol

There's something hilarious about a radio commercial talking about "Small Business Saturday, created by American Express".

Juggernaut shouldn’t be a mutant or working for Magneto in the first place.
Well, Juggy and Magneto worked together in "Pryde of the X-Men".

A.k.a. The one that gave us the "Where's the beer?!" riff line.

Work, work, work, no Thanks Giving here, its just a normal day and my work in work is just piling up due to bad rotas and christmas getting FAR to much attention, thus other areas are getting a bit nelgected, hopefully I can catch up over the weekend if all goes well

I don't believe the Family Guy pose is as popular. Just aggressively forced.

IIRC they designed it as the most awkward pose for an unconscious character to lie for a particular skit then kept running with it for some godforsaken reason

why are people nostalgic for blockbuster and not actual mom and pop video stores
Probably for the same reason I say I am a Transformer collector and not a Gobot collector: recognition. If I say I'm a Transformer collector, there's a better chance the casual observer will know what I'm talking about.

My earliest experiences with video rental came from local mom and pop joints, but for the life of me, I can't remember their names, and unless someone lived in Arcadia and/or Ord Nebraska in the mid-to-late-80s, the name wouldn't matter anyway. (I didn't live in a town with a Blockbuster until we moved to Omaha in the 90s, and we used Captain Video until it closed because it was closer.) Plus, a lot of video rental in small towns happened at gas stations, like Bosselmans Pump'N'Pantry in Nebraska, and that wasn't quite the same experience.

That said, I spent many hours wandering the video store looking at all the bizarre VHS covers while my parents talked with the owners. It was definitely a fun experience!

I lived 5 minutes away from a Blockbuster, so that's the video rental store I remember.
