Random Thoughts From Out of Nowhere

Do we, we don't know everything about them, there is still a lot of mysteries unresolved regarding this ancient sites, such as the location of the Pyramaids, why that exact site was chosen, the ancients were smarter than you might think, the prymaids aline with the heavens above, exactly how did they figure it out to aline them exactly
the giza pyramid complex is not aligned with the heavens

the whole 'orion correlation theory' (the theory that there's a correlation between the three largest pyramids of the giza complex and orion's belt in the orion constellation) is literally a nonsensical fringe theory dismissed by all serious archaeologists as pseudoscience

for starters - we have found absolutely zero evidence from ancient egypt that they constructed these pyramids to be aligned with orion's belt, so that's one mark against the theory. you'd think, with how important the stars and constellations were in ancient egyptian culture, that we'd have some evidence of them showing that they built the pyramids to line up with these three stars.

also there's the fact that the dude who came up with the theory believes that the pyramids line up with orion's belt as it was around the year 10,000 BC...y'know like 7500 years before the giza pyramids were even built and 6800 years before what we would refer to as ancient egypt even began (and he also believed in the 2012 end of the world thing and the existence of atlantic - basically he is not a serious person)

and astronomers have done research to compare how the three largest pyramids are lined up to compare it to how orion's belt would have appeared in 10,000 BC (since that is the date cited by the guy who came up with the theory) using planetarium equipment and...it doesn't match. guy who came up with the theory claims it was a 'perfect match' for how the three stars in the belt of orion were in 10,000 BC. astronomers found that, no, it's not. per their measurements, in 10,000 BC, the angle formed by the belt of orion was 47-50 degrees. the angle formed by the pyramids is 38 degrees. far from a 'perfect match'

also the slightly bent line that the pyramids form is deviated towards the north, but the slight kink in orion's belt goes towards the south, so in order for them to match - you'd need to flip one of them upside down. and hey guess what the person who wrote the book espousing this theory did??? yeah he literally flipped a map of the pyramids upside down to compare it to orion without telling people that he did that.

and other jive too like how the book claims other things like how the nile river represents the milky way and the sphinx represents the constellation leo.

but uhh a couple small issues there:
1. the position of the sphinx in the complex in relation to the nile, if it represents the milky way, and the three largest pyramids of the giza complex, if it represents the belt of orion, is in the wrong damn position

2. the ancient egyptians did not ******* know about the constellation of leo. literally leo and all the other constellations were know of in the modern day were completely unknown in ancient egypt and appear in absolutely ZERO ancient egyptian star charts. there are no references to any of these constellations in egypt until the greco-roman era of egypt.

like mind you: i should say that the pyramids (and many other buildings and temples in ancient egypt) were built with celestial significance (because the stars and constellations is how they kept track of time and stuff relating to their religions). like that is very much an uncontroversial thing. (like the corners of the great pyramid align so well with the four cardinal directions and most researches accept that the ancient egyptian engineers used the motion of the sun)

but the whole thing about 'the pyramids are specifically alligned with the three stars of orion's belt' thing? yeah nah that jive is like straight bunk.

yeah but do you think devastator's balls left a trail on the pyramids when he climbed it
It's things such as this that remind me how hard it would be nowadays to revive the World's Worst Fanfic....

...because when the canonical material gives you such gems as this:

...well, seems kind of superfluous to write parody, doesn't it?

I wonder if at least some of ROTF's dumb "comedy" was filmed just for fun because everyone was getting bored out of their minds waiting for filming permits to clear. They had a lot of downtime when they couldn't do anything productive, and Bay's a guy who likes to film multiple scenes a day so that had to be driving him nuts.

The highly polished CGI suggests otherwise. But they were still editing the movie almost right up to the deadline, so maybe the directive was "Just use whatever you have and hurry; we'll check it later" but they never checked it later.

Well bare in mind when ROTF went into production, the writers strike happened and they had no real sccipt, outside of Bay's ideas which resulted in the movie being a total mess story wise as it was a rushed production on top of Shia hurting his hand

Just saw word about a paper that was throwing out a theory that could point that electromagnetics and gravity are the same thing, but seen through different mathematical lenses.

Antigravity, here we come.

i'm shitposting but there a damn lot of people in this fandom who are seemingly unaware that like both serious critics and most movie-goers look down on this franchise and treat it with contempt at worst and just ignore it at best

and i'm not just talking like the bayformers but even the 'good' transformers movies like transformers one.

You're not wrong, but that doesn't really make one bit of difference for those of us who do enjoy it? Also, I personally consider the contempt of 'serious critics' and the general public as something of a badge of honor. (I've also been a Godzilla and Gamera fan for years, in spite of the silliness and before it was cool)

I'd make a reply but it would arguably go a bit too into P&R because I'd be talking about like capitalism and brand worship and stuff lol.

transformers is ******* stupid at the end of the day and even the 'best' transformers fiction isn't that great in the grand scheme of things.

and that's fine, i'm someone who's watched and enjoyed movies called jive like terrorvision and girlfriend from hell but they're not high art. they're entertaining still.

All the complaints I see about the By films comes from Transformers fans. Everyone else I encounter either liked them or couldn't care less. No dislike. Either praise or complete indifference.

The more involved parts of the fandom still hype a literal toddler’s show, an officially endorsed tumblr fanfic and whatever the hell is happening in Skybound as the heights of the franchise. The normier part of the fanbase thinks half-baked PS3 era cutscenes where nothing happen are a return to the glory days. Poor taste is a requirement to becoming part of this fandom.

i’m just in for the toys. It’s the only actual exceptional part of the franchise.

Why do you need a tictac? We can't smell your breath from the other side of the screen?
