I'm not wild about the secret love child (seriously? Don't they have super advanced contraceptives in the future? Did Beverly unconsciously want a child after Wesley left?) but I do like how Jack can continue the Picard bloodline legitimately.

To be fair, she was in a romantic relationship with Picard right before she found out, so maybe they had been trying to have a baby? Neither of them were getting any younger...

Saw the next three eps.

Screw me, they reintroduced Ro then killed her?!?!?! WTFerengi?!?!

I loved their confrontation on the holodeck! "I have been rehearsing this speech for 30 years!"

The semi heist thing in Daystrom was cool. The Data combo reveal was... weird. Leave him alone already, if he really wanted to die then.

This does get addressed later.

Moriarty was great but it wasn't the original holo, oh well.

Yeah, I was hoping for the holo to come back too, but it was great seeing him again.

Just great that Riker remembered the whistle.

That was a neat throw back to the end of Nemesis when Riker couldn't remember the whistle at Data's Wake.

Deanna? A changeling, c'mooooon. Tuvok was awesome to see, hehe.

Tuvok is always awesome, especially when he gets the chance to surprise you.

I'm not into Vedic and her screeches voice. Could have had a cooler cool hunter person.

She is the daughter of Christopher Plummer who famously played General Chang in Star Trek 6 the Undiscovered Country, and you know Star Trek likes its legacy actors....

I'm assuming the sickness Jack has is the one clone Tom Hardy had in the Next Gen movie. Dunno what his mind control powers are but whatever.

Nope, Tom hardy had some sort of cloning defect IIRC, this is something else. Keep watching.

Boo on the stolen corpse! I thought it would be a super weapon whatever.

Three eps to go.

Keep watching, It's about to get really good!

That is a complicated thing. The Data that you are talking about had been kind of living in a prison for 20 years and that whole thing was contrived to give us a taste of Data but also to acknowledge that Spiner is too old to play him. Spiner doesn't mind playing him if they get around the problems and they did. This is not the one that wanted to die.
I think I'd be ok if it was B4 who was given the combination of the new life (he had all of Data's memories anyhow). Or Lore making a decision to be good. Then he can can himself FourLore-n. Haha. Anyhow...

Saw ep8 and 9. Legacy aside, I'm still fine Vedic is gone.

I'm a bit put out that the Dominion isn't the mastermind. We never really got to see the changeling attack en masse in DS9. It was mostly Cardassians and (darn it, those fighters on Ketrecel White, forgot their name). It would have been amazingly scary to have overtly violent changeling soldiers instead of infiltraters.

I was still surprised at the Borg reveal and the freaking scary Picard DNA in transporters to make instant Borgs but, darn it, the Dominion was just there, aw. What would they gain from helping the Borg anyway? They wouldn't want to be assimilated themselves.

Shelby is dead? I saw a blast damage on her body before the screen changed. When was she first ever introduced anyway? I'm so sad for that ship that got control of the helm but was shut down then blown up. Captain Benblallast something, I think. Poor dude and crew. Shaw is dead, no forgiveness given to Picard but soooo awesome he gave command to Seven! Loved that.

I'm a fuzzy on the current Borg cuz what about s2 Scott Pilgrim red dress lady who combined with an alt timeline Borg Queen? She's a force of good now. Since there was no mention of her during the season, I guess she won't factor in at all and the day will be saved by Jack instead.

So they're using the original Enterprise. They call it analog? Because the internet wasn't widespread in the 90s so top of the line tech at that time didn't quite conceive it? Hehe. I'm getting the feeling that people really liked s3 because it's really the crew of Next Gen getting back in action over the makeshift crew from s1 and s2. Oh, with new Data around, maybe the actress playing his daughter will reappear (not that I want her too). Who else is missing from Next Gen? Ro is dead. Wesley could make a Traveller appearance. Dr Pulaski? Whoopi Goldberg?

Finale next.

She has a good death!

Jem Hadar.

I was still surprised at the Borg reveal and the freaking scary Picard DNA in transporters to make instant Borgs but, darn it, the Dominion was just there, aw.

The instant Borgs are pretty terrifying.

What would they gain from helping the Borg anyway? They wouldn't want to be assimilated themselves.

These were captured and tortured by Starfleet, so they just want to see it burn.

Shelby is dead? I saw a blast damage on her body before the screen changed. When was she first ever introduced anyway?

She is presumed dead, taking two shots to the chest. She was first introduced back in the TNG two-parter, Best of Both Worlds. She hasn't appeared since then, but you see she did make the rank of Admiral and was in command of the Enterprise-F.

I'm so sad for that ship that got control of the helm but was shut down then blown up. Captain Benblallast something, I think. Poor dude and crew.

They really should have booked it out of there, instead of trying to stand up to the entire fleet.

Shaw is dead, no forgiveness given to Picard but soooo awesome he gave command to Seven! Loved that.

Shaw is another one, that they left vague. Like they left it open so someone can bring him back if they continue the timeline from here. I loved how Shaw, who completely hates Riker and Picard, totally geeks out of LaForge.

Nope, she is gone, and that faction of Borg is different from this. This is the Borg that Admiral Janeway sacrificed herself to cripple. And crippled she did! Keep watching!

So they're using the original Enterprise.

Well, it's the Enterprise D, the same ship that they served on. I should mention that its the saucer section, but the drive section and parts came from other ships. So expect to see the Dominion War upgrades on this beast!

They call it analog? Because the internet wasn't widespread in the 90s so top of the line tech at that time didn't quite conceive it? Hehe.

Well, it's not linked in with the rest of the fleet, and it not being on display means that they could take it without setting off any alarms, which would be the only reason why they wouldn't grab a more powerful ship like Voyager or the Defiant.

I'm getting the feeling that people really liked s3 because it's really the crew of Next Gen getting back in action over the makeshift crew from s1 and s2.

Season 3 does have an epic return of the TNG crew, and we get that epic fan service of a good and proper ending for them that we didn't get with Nemesis. Plus, it's the characters that we have watched and enjoyed for all of lives, of course we are excited to see them back. However, we do get new characters in there that we like, for example, Sidney LaForge, Jack Crusher, and Captain Shaw.

I should also note, that LaForge's other daughter that arrives with him is actually LeVar Burton's actual daughter.

Oh, with new Data around, maybe the actress playing his daughter will reappear (not that I want her too).

Sadly not. However, what about that Lore vs Data mind battle? Data tricking Lore into downloading his memories. Now they are all merged together!

Who else is missing from Next Gen? Ro is dead. Wesley could make a Traveller appearance. Dr Pulaski? Whoopi Goldberg?

Thomas Riker sadly doesn't show up, but he does get mentioned in Lower Decks.

Finale next.

Its epic! Enjoy!

My the end of the season I felt like it was all just a sugar rush, but Data taking Lore over by giving him his memories was very cool. As was that retcon that it turns out Picard never had Iromodic Syndrome at all. I'm not really and Enterprise-D herself fanboy, but I get it. It was definitely neat to have the cast back together, but what they did with it all was not as much as I could have wished.

Shaw is another one, that they left vague. Like they left it open so someone can bring him back if they continue the timeline from here.

I can't recall the exact facts, but bringing him back would definitely be a cheap cheat. After 30 years of survivor guilt he jumped at the chance to be the one who died for other people to survive. And he isn't there later when everything is being settled. If he survived, the ship doesn't need a new captain. And I believe there is a bit of dialog where he had surprisingly recommended Seven for promotion. If he was alive, he had places to be in all of this.

There is a lot of talk about his fate in the bonus material. They intentionally left it to where someone could bring him back. As for not captaining the Titan, he could have requested a transfer or retirement. Heck he might be on medical leave and put back as a teacher in the academy.

Even if it can be done mechanically and explained, it shouldn't be done because of the meaning of it.

She has a good death!
Gruesome, yeah.
The instant Borgs are pretty terrifying.
did the transport made Borgs have a production name? Since they're a whole new type, having no implants and stuff.

She is presumed dead, taking two shots to the chest. She was first introduced back in the TNG two-parter, Best of Both Worlds. She hasn't appeared since then, but you see she did make the rank of Admiral and was in command of the Enterprise-F.
i totally don't remember her.

They probably paused to get more info, poor dudes.

btw, I thought all the ships under the borg control were spelling out some alien letters, because they were in a line but not totally uniform.

Shaw is another one, that they left vague. Like they left it open so someone can bring him back if they continue the timeline from here. I loved how Shaw, who completely hates Riker and Picard, totally geeks out of LaForge.
Ah yeah, that was a cute bit, hehe

Well, it's the Enterprise D, the same ship that they served on. I should mention that its the saucer section, but the drive section and parts came from other ships. So expect to see the Dominion War upgrades on this beast!
oh yeah, i mean that was their original Next Gen ship, not TOS.

So Picard is over? They ended this with the poker playing like in the final ep of Next Gen. The next series would be retitled for Jack Crusher and Seven of Nine?

I should also note, that LaForge's other daughter that arrives with him is actually LeVar Burton's actual daughter.
Oh! That's pretty cool. If she liked her role, maybe she could stick around, if she wanted to.

Sadly not. However, what about that Lore vs Data mind battle? Data tricking Lore into downloading his memories. Now they are all merged together!
It would have looked cooler to me if there was no return of the Data image and him dissipating Lore but of the Lore image being overwritten by Data via all the trophies being internalized (somehow). But I guess it's hard when they both look the same, haha. Yay Spot!

Well, I saw the last ep. They put in some sudden humor here, with the chef becoming a pilot in Seven's command, surprise violence from Beverly, banter between Riker and Worf etc.

Jack didn't save save the day after all. I'm glad it was still Picard, even though it was power of heart and all that.

The piloting inside the cube had Skywalker Deathstar use the Force vibes, with Data using his gut, haha.

The best part for me was actually Deanna locating Riker and Co with her empathy. That's new and caught my by surprise. I liked it.

Yeah, ending with a poker, same as the Next Gen finale. Guinan was mentioned as throwing them looks but not shown on screen. Q appearing in the bonus scene credits to Jack would bookend the series too but maybe a Q Jr would be nicer, so they can bring back Icheb somehow?

Anyhow, guess that's it. Off to Discovery next, I guess. I surprised to find that its 5 seasons! I had it in my head that it was also 3, like Picard.

And you can tell; Discovery feels like a decent seven-season show that someone came along turned into a "supercut."

We're constantly being told things about the crew (they're a tight-knit family! Airiam is the glue that holds them together! Linus has all sorts of weird and funny misadventures!), but we rarely get to actually see any of it.

Unfortunately Discovery is very much the Michael Burnham with special guest stars Everybody Else show. Yeah, some of the other crew do get opportunities to shine but the show never lets you forget it's first and foremost about Michael.

i totally don't remember her.

She was the one that wanted Riker's job and got it while he took command of the Enterprise when Picard was assimilated. She was only in those two episodes though.

So Picard is over? They ended this with the poker playing like in the final ep of Next Gen. The next series would be retitled for Jack Crusher and Seven of Nine?

Yeah, the next series is pitched as Star Trek: Legacy, but there hasn't been much news on it these days.

Oh! That's pretty cool. If she liked her role, maybe she could stick around, if she wanted to.

LeVar Burton has an idea who their mom is, and it's not Leah Brahms.

Well, I saw the last ep. They put in some sudden humor here, with the chef becoming a pilot in Seven's command, surprise violence from Beverly, banter between Riker and Worf etc.

Riker and Worf on the cube was great! Love the sword gag! Everyone shocked at how Beverly has changed over the last 20 years, and how profecient she was at weapons station.

Jack didn't save save the day after all. I'm glad it was still Picard, even though it was power of heart and all that.

Picard's speeches were great, "I have been running from the collective for half my life, now I have a reason to run to it." "If you won't leave, then I will stay here with you until the end."

Also, you see how much damage that Admiral Janeway did to the Borg collective. Barely holding it together in one hidden station.

The piloting inside the cube had Skywalker Deathstar use the Force vibes, with Data using his gut, haha.

There are some great cuts of that with some music on Youtube. My favorite is magic carpet ride.

The best part for me was actually Deanna locating Riker and Co with her empathy. That's new and caught my by surprise. I liked it.

Yeah, that is the line that gets me when Riker says he will be waiting for her, him and their boy. Plus Troi gets a little payback of flying through the station after getting blamed for crashing the D in Generations.

Yeah, ending with a poker, same as the Next Gen finale. Guinan was mentioned as throwing them looks but not shown on screen.

Yeah, they went out with some class there. I loved the whole scene!

Q appearing in the bonus scene credits to Jack would bookend the series too but maybe a Q Jr would be nicer, so they can bring back Icheb somehow?

That was an epic surprise and helped set up the Legacy series. Sadly, it's not progressing despite the fan interest/demand.

Anyhow, guess that's it. Off to Discovery next, I guess. I surprised to find that its 5 seasons! I had it in my head that it was also 3, like Picard.

Nope, it was the first show that started the return of Star Trek TV series.

Oh myyyy. Put these together. The Discovery we got is the Best Buy set of just the episodes that highlighted Michael Burnham.

Just a quick post to show some fun Star Trek things I found poking around an antique mall while out of town for work. Didn't buy any of them, so if anyone is in the south Dayton Ohio area and finds themselves REALLY needing a ST:TNG yo-yo, it is still available.

20250402_182851.jpg

Texted the above photo to my wife. She replied "Chick Magnet," and I don't think truer words have ever been texted.

20250403_105200.jpg

Probably should have gotten this one. It could have been a new holiday tradition. Gather the family around a roaring fire and read Klingons for Kristmas.

And finally, for all of us that find 3 Dimensional Chess too challenging. I like to imagine this is what Riker has set up in his office:

20250403_113810.jpg

I came real close to buying it, actually, but when I checked to see if all of the pieces were there, I saw that the "Attack Boards" were NOT, in fact, transparent, but rather opaque red plastic, and none of the red plastic was that nice metalic sheen that the box would imply. I still waffled for a bit, but in the end decided I didn't really need it.

Loot get! I was finally able to source a To Boldly Go expansion for Attack Wing, so now I have a pretty good spread of Feddie ships for my Alliance: Dominion War solitaire game; something a little heftier than a single Akira and Excelsior from the Part 1 starter. Plus, regardless of inaccuracy, this is the set with the nice silver paintjobs on the models.

Had to check YouTube for the Data flying thru cube with different music but I assumed Magic Carpet Ride was from Aladdin's Whole New World and not an actual song title, darn, haha

Anyhow, binged half of s1 of Discovery. Things are blurring but... it's not that bad so far for me. I didn't like eps 1 and 2 for the political stuff and the weird looking Klingons (WTFerengi?!?) but when she was on the Discovery, I'm actually ok. Cool vicious monster turned cute, funky fungus space travel, Jason Isaacs being sorta evil then an ep where he gets cool. That's neat stuff.

To get stuff out of the way... I might have missed it but why is she called Michael? When the name Michael Burnham was mentioned a few post above, I was looking for a guy. Is there a behind the scenes reason for this?

I see Bryan Fuller's name at the start and I remember he leaves the show. I loved Wonderfalls and Pushing Daisies (didn't watch... Hannibal) so where's the whimsy and cute stuff in Discovery? The fungus travel and killer then cute tardigrade seems like a concept he'd use. Tilly MUST be one of his characters. What are his other fingerprints in this Trek?

I recall seeing here that Michele Yeoh is in the Section 31 movie but... she died in the second ep. Section 31 did a transporter clone Boimler recruitment of her?

What's the timeline here? Sarek is around? The 'rescue Sarek via mind meld' ep6 makes it seem that Burnham was denied whatever since Sarek chose Spock instead. So this is... 20 years from TOS, before Next Gen? And what's with this war with the Klingons? Why are the Klingons different looking?

I caught a glimpse of a robot lady on the deck. Synthetics?

I rechecked Short Treks Holograms all the way down and, holy cow, that's the alien Saru there near the end, to represent Discovery! I wondered who that alien was, haha

Rainy Wilson, I recognized even with the beard. Surprised to hear the name Mudd tho, yow.

Anyhow, Disco is looking slick. I don't get the saucer front has to cycle around and why it has to spin for the fungus travel but it looks cool, haha.

I kinda like the people so far, especially with the Captain Gabriel Lucius Malfoy Isaacs captured ep since it showed alien Saru checking the database of past captain's cuz he's insecure and later Anthony Rapp mutating himself to test the fungus. Burnham, I only liked when she freed the monster, hehe

Btw, was she right in the first ep? Would this have been ok if they had shot the Klingons first?
