Maybe Spin-Out will be a later release like how Sentinel was.
I hope so. Spin-Out was based off of the deco that was the first ever Diaclone Car Robots toy. He's the origin point for so much of this... he needs some rep here.

Cordon coming first is probably because his mold has some tooling differences, giving us two different options tooling-wise right out of the gate, just like with the tooling differences between Bumblebee and Cliffjumper.

If Takara were smart, they'd give us either Bumper or Hubcap (more likely the latter) as the third release version of Bumble and Cliff's assortment.

Sunstreaker and Cordon went up for Preorder on Japanese sites today.

$87 USD.

Each.

That has dulled my enthusiasm considerably. I was expecting maybe $50-$60 each.

Is it more than I want to pay? Yeah.

Is it more than I think it's worth or am willing to pay. No.

I mean it's a complete G1 mold remake with extensive and intricate added articulation, die cast metal parts, and diaclone driver Spike. Anything sub $100 is reasonable imo.

That said, at that price it may be Sunstreaker only for me, cool as Cordon looks.

-ZacWilliam, what I really want is Spin Out since Diakron Red was the toy I had as a kid...

Missing Link's pricing is nuts, but not that nuts. Early G1 toys tend to be more densely constructed than modern toys of similar size, even with the lack of articulation. It took time for the designers to learn to be more efficient with the parts count.

Now add articulation to that. And so far Missing Link is doing a good job of making that articulation blend in. The designers are ignoring decades of experience in order to make that articulation as clunky and inefficient as the surrounding engineering. It's probably a fun line to work on but very challenging.

The obvious solution here is to move to Japan and save on those shipping costs.
Unfortunately, as the Yen is weak, you would need to infer that ¥1,000 = $10, so it's still rather expensive for us over here as the "average" job for foreigners (with a degree) would be an English conversation "teacher" (sic), which parts around ¥250,000 per month (before tax)... :(

i still think that and then it's always a surprise when i remember the yen is so weak now that the old ¥100 = ~US$1 isn't true anymore so jive I import is cheaper than I expected it to be lol.

Sucks for people living in Japan of course.

This line is *perfect* for working in these Diaclone guys. I have yet to buy any, but I really love this line.

What is depressing is that whenever we get to Wheeljack, we wont get an accurate Exhaust. I mean, obviously. BUT I still want to see what that compromise looks like, though.

More info can be found at the KO thread here.

(Obviously, I won't post news of every other successive ML KO here, but as it's the first, I thought it was worth informing about it here).
