Well folks, it's finally happened, the first KO Missing Link figure has been made....

More info can be found at the KO thread here.

(Obviously, I won't post news of every other successive ML KO here, but as it's the first, I thought it was worth informing about it here).
I mean, yeah, it was bound to happen, but it seems like an odd choice; if people want the Missing Link Prime, they probably already bought the official Missing Link figure. If they want a budget version, the Legacy Deluxe fits the bill quite nicely (sans trailer), and is still official. Unless people plan to deceitfully pass this off as the real thing, who is this made for?

In Japan, the Legacy Deluxe version hasn't been released yet (it was only recently available for pre-order over here), so depending on the price/quality (and release), I might cancel my pre-order of the Legacy version and get the KO instead. Also, I thought the official versions were too expensive and had a feeling that KO versions wouldn't be far behind.

However, yes, as this release is fairly recent, It could be possible to buy a KO G1 reissue, the KO ML version and swap the boxes to fool some buyers?

Man is really weirdly trying to normalize KOs.
This is the same dude who, in a TFO thread filled with people lamenting that not enough of the movie going public had paid to see it, was trying to promote a pirated stream of it.

I just donno 🤷‍♂️

It is odd. I remember when anything KO got punted almost immediately to the KO thread. But then again, the KO thread didn't have a dissertation explaining how some KOs are totally not or something.

all while hating people like prime vs prime (oh, i'm sorry i mean crime vs crime) who do reviews of stolen toys taken from factories in vietnam before wide release

so like...actually going out and buying knock-offs of hastak product is a-ok but watching videos of people doing reviews of toys that were acquired through illicit means isn't

yeah nah fam i don't really give a jive either way but like i'd say actually buying knock off products is worse than giving views to a youtuber who reviews stuff taken from factories y'know, you're not (directly) giving money to these reviewers by watching their content.

PvP is very extra and he's not always my cup of tea, but I couldn't give a f if he reviews stolen figures, given that it impacts literally nothing except getting an underpaid factory worker some extra cash.

But KOs are potentially affection sales figures of product lines I'd like to see do well and while I'm not morally outraged or anything... I do find it a bigger issue.

unluckiness

Somehow still sane

A big selling point of the Missing Link release IMO is the packaging. As foolhardy and half-assed as it was, at least that one Jetfire-colored Valkyrie knockoff tried to do it right.

Honestly, articulated replicas of G1 toys is such a small niche within a niche that I'd assume that whoever wanted it has a copy by now.

If you mean the official Missing Link ones?

Nah. I want 'em, but I'm too broke. And Hasbro not doing a western release (I don't count selling a few dozen Japanese imports to scalpers through Pulse as a western release) isn't really helping accelerate that any.

I do have the trailer one wishlisted, though. But I'll probably just wind up with the Legacy version.

...assuming that I can get some money before Monday, since GameStop got my pre-order a month ahead of when it was supposed to get here, catching me completely unprepared.

A pox on whoever set the January date for the pre-order! And doubly so if I wind up missing this.

Well, guess who decided to sell my pre-order before I called to ask them about holding it a little longer?
