It's funny that you mentioned Starbucks (insert obligatory rant about how neither Dirk Benedict nor Katee Sackhoff see a dime from that chain.... 😉)

Over in Cascadia, where coffee is essential for people to be functional, it's generally said of designer coffee chains that one is paying for the ambience, not the coffee. So it likely is with maid cafes, I suspect.

It's also worth noting that Miley and her friend got artfully made lunch dishes and magical cold drinks, but not coffee, so there's that.

Perhaps a closer analogue, at least to "maidreamin", would be those casual-dining North American restaurants known for having all-female waitstaff in short-yet-tasteful black t-shirt/skirt combos.
Honestly, even Hooters Japan was better than the maid cafe I went to.

Still, each to their own. I've got a Japanese girlfriend with her own selection of cute costumes (including a maid outfit) at my home, so I'm probably not the target audience...

As for Starbucks...

I wanted to make a posture joke, but alas, I'm at a loss for words. 🙃

There was a Hooters in my city for a few years. True story, I never went.

I'm just fascinated by how these places have carved out a niche in the dining-out industry in Japan, and am wondering as to the appeal. Is it a Eurokitsch thing? Something in the Japanese interpretation of the service? Would it work on the other side of the Pacific?

(I posted this one before, I know, but since our host wants appropriate images....)

One thing I'm pretty confident of, the two Starbucks should have had a full-colours game as part of their summit (though I think TOS-Starbuck might be the better card player.... Kara would likely outfly him, though).

So now the question is: do you have any outfits you wear for her?
Yes, she's especially fond of

They also have "butler cafes" for Japanese women, where Japanese and also some (usually white) foreign men dress up as butlers for Japanese women:

Ask your GF if there's any costumes you can wear for her. I would kill to see TMM in some, but naturally he refuses. I do get him to wear nicer shirts sometimes, and we cosplayed twice.

Butler cafes: I'm aware. I remember hearing about a muscle man cafe way back when. Naturally, it was only a pop-up. I know there's a muscle women cafe still in business. You can even pay to get slapped by them.

She is just happy if I wash, clean my teeth, stand up straight and wear something nice that she's bought for me every now and then.

I did once go to a "sumo" women hostess bar. It was great. Jolly, overweight Japanese women would ham-up obviously fake compliments or make fun of the men . It was rather "Carry On" styled British inuendos and suchlike plus it didn't racially or sexually discriminate non-Japanese/female customers (as most hostess bars do in Japan).

did he die or did i frighten him off with furries
If I didn't frighten him off with an ex-idol having conversations with plush pals, a woman born without functional arms, a woman with childhood burn trauma, and a solipsistic reality-warping AI; I think you have nothing to worry about. 🙃
