I'm glad it wasn't a missile strike.

What do we import from Colombia? I would guess fruits and vegetables.

Trump is killing two birds with one stone. This will make it harder for Colombians to make a living in Colombia and raise groceries prices in the United States. Unfortunately, we wanted those two birds alive.

Dude froze all foreign aid for a 90 day review whether we are getting what we want for a money. It would be a good time for someone to remind him that what we used to get for aid to Central America was no caravans.

I'll hold out as long as Miami pirates can keep the coffee imports coming.

So I reviewed the list of top Colombian imports and it is funnier than I thought. Fruits and Vegetables as I said. Coffee as others said. But the biggest is petroleum, both crude and refined products.

So. To summarize. Colombia wants its deportees to come in a civilian flight and without restraints. This is not acceptable to Trump instead, we will:
1) Keep people we intended to deport
2) Raise gas prices
3) Raise grocery prices
4) Make it harder for Colombians to stay in Colombia

Maybe it is always darkest before the dawn? Uh....I can't remember how fast he said he would get grocery prices down. He said he would stop the Ukraine War in 1 day and a lot of people are wishing that day would dawn.

Trump says Colombia backed down and will now be treated however he decides to treat them.

Edit - Maybe he is running a different strategy that I had imagined and he's trying to make Colombians associate the USA with disgust. So no matter how bad things are in Colombia, the USA is the last place they'd want to go.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Colombia didn't back down, and is in fact running an investigation into how their nationals were treated by the deportation.

I dunno, I would assume a store. I don't drink the jive.
I'm sorry, but this made me laugh out loud. Thank you, I needed that this morning.

Yeah, for some reason Trumpettes are declaring a 'victory over Columbia' and I have yet to see anywhere where Columbia backed down or accepted military flights or anything.
and the immediate and punitive tariffs should scare the hell out of anyone. This is yet another good reason why the US government should never be run as a business. This kind of strong arming is just bad policy and practice.

Trump is a bully. Strongarming and lying are the only tactics he knows. And it's okay for a business that he can just pump and dump for a quick cash-out when the grift runs it's course, but trying to pull it on sovereign nations that have no real reason to take his crap is going to hurt a lot of people. Of course, he's never had to face real consequences in his life, so he doesn't care.

And that's just it. Consequences are coming. Not for him, but for the rest of the country.
Apparently Denmark told him, literally "Go hug yourself, Mr. Trump". The video is out there, btw. Panama has told him to kick rocks. Canada is laughing at him and making sure he knows it. And now Columbia.

After riding the biggest ego high of his life, Trump is now being told to piss off on the world stage in front of everyone. I know he's burning up over it. And there is no one in this administration to temper his childish tantrums.
He is going to lash out. Sooner rather than later. He has to, his ego demands it. He has to do something dramatic so he looks like the 'strong guy'.
