Studio Series discussion

Man, when I bought the latest Leader Soundwave pack, I wondered if there wasn't a SS coming just around the corner. Really, though, other than a little too much stege and some vestigial parts from the original "spaceship" mode, there's not much more I would want from a new mold. Even most of his cassettes are about as good as can be expected at that scale (not you, Ravage).
Same. A new SS '86 Soundwave mould doesn't really interest me, given that it's going to be very Sunbow-referential. I think I'm good with my Legacy version.

Now if they wanna take another crack at Ravage and Ratbat...

I don't hate the Ratbat mold. It's no Masterpiece Ratbat, but it's not at all bad for it's size/cost. Ravage, though, is pretty rough and needs a ground-up rethinking.

I like all the cassettes so far except Ravage. The upgrade to the Rumble/Frenzy mold they did for Studio Series are really nice. I just hope all the cassettes are backwards compatible.

Very much this. If they do a new mold Soundwave, there's a good chance that I won't buy him as I'm pretty well stocked on Soundwaves. But if they do some new cassettes for him, like a good Ravage, or Enemy, or Slugfest and Overkill or any of the other cassettes that I don't have yet, I'm going to be disappointed if they don't fit in my current Soundwave. I'll still buy them and display them in Robot mode, but I'll be all huffy about it.

There are some rumblings that Commander Rodimus may get a repaint/reissue for SS.
You know, I love my Kingdom Rodimus. A year ago, I would have said a minor redeco would be all he'd need for SS86. Then they went and made SS86 Optimus be bumped up to Galvatron's height. Presumably, SS86 Megatron will follow suit. If so, that Rodimus is undersized. He already felt a little undersized next to Galvatron, but it was easy enough to ignore that given that Galvatron also has a long-standing rivalry with Magnus and is supposed to be an upgraded Megatron. But if all the other leaders are now one size and he's the odd one out, I'll be pretty irritated.

Plus, while his vehicle mode is just fine for Generations, it's really not at all good for SS86. So I really hope they've rethought this before they've moved forward on anything.

Take with as little or as much salt as you deem necessary...

Interesting.

More AOE and more concepts (and honestly toyline-only/offscreen characters) are things I've wanted since the line started. And really there's room for more Bay-era stuff in general. I don't urgently need new Dinobots in this area but they're not unwelcome. But give me all the KSI bots, opaque-plastic redos of the molds they've released (really, some are due for at least package refreshes anyway due to rarity), Devcon, the twins already, and so on.

There's another ROTB Scorponok variation? Hm. I only need one of that mold, so maybe I'll wait for the third to be announced.

Don't really need a new mold for Soundwave, but I'm curious to see how they'd do that better. If anything I hope they don't change the size of the tape compartment to force us to buy him AND new cassettes. And that they immediately make a Soundblaster, which has eluded the former Walmart exclusive mold.

Astrotrain I'm still fine with, especially if they go and give him CoffeeHorse's excellent deco above. Just retool away the excessive greebling and give his shuttle mode a rear shell. Shockwave, same -- I don't need either to really be taller, although if they're making a new Megatron that might cause a scale ripple effect. But the mold is fine, just de-greeble it and give it a better shade of purple (this I think Dramatic Capture does well enough?).

TFOne I'm only very selectively collecting, so keep making lots and lots and lots of those and let me take a breather.

Rodimus, well. I think the Kingdom one wasn't bad, and I'd consider a retool, but it'd have to be a heavy one. They'd have to find a way to retool the original so the car half slots fully into the trailer half (with the spoiler movig forward and the pipes staying unbroken) rather than sticking out weirdly. It's the one absolute eyesore-level issue I have with it. Round that out with a new head sculpt.

But I'd gladly buy an all-new Commander class one if it gets the same love that SS86 Op did (it'd need to also match Op's height). More accurate vehicle mode as noted above, better head sculpt, better robot mode proportions (the Kingdom one seems to just have a square torso from most angles).
