I don't know if he'll make any headway on DOGE unless what I heard about DOGE being a rebranded USDS is wrong, or the USDS's charter doesn't allow what they're doing(since they killed Chevron deference, that gives an out there). They might on Musk though since he hasn't been confirmed by the Senate officially in any capacity.

USDS was created after the roll-out of the ACA and the issues associated with their website going down. They AREN'T supposed to be investigating budgets of other departments, they are supposed to ensure the IT infrastructure doesn't fail, especially when it relates to government websites. Trump has decided that they are to do the job of the IGs and have moved them to essentially be the strong arm of the OMB. When the Secret Service's role was expanded from just fighting fraud and counterfeiting to security to the president it took an act of congress. They are operating WAY outside of what they were originally created for and Musk really shouldn't be involved at all due to some severe conflicts of interest. On top of that Musk, as a special government employee, MUST get clearances and be properly vetted before taking the roll, which was not done.

The site and DB is apparently just hosted on Cloudflare servers, not on any government servers, so people are just getting in and messing with it. And the data in the DB is granular enough if you hit the right criteria you can figure out data about individual people.

You have interns build your site while not following proper protocols and without proper oversight this is what you get ...

Wait, so when they say anyone, do they mean anyone anyone? Like, any old script kiddie can just hack in and mess with things? Or "anyone who works for DOGE and can push a page containing an SQL query"?

Anyone, like it says in the article. A couple coders both were independently able to find the database APIs easily from the website, and do their own database inserts. It's even shown on one of the pictures headlining said article.

Also Musk has posted NOFORN classified data(meaning data not allowed to be shared with foreign nationals) on this site too.

Wait, has someone actually crunched the numbers and determined that we could permanently end world hunger for only an upfront cost of six billion dollars? Because if so, the fact that we haven't done it yet speaks volumes about not only every billionaire on earth but multiple first world governments as well, whose budgets are easily an order of magnitude above that annually. Hell, you could probably get ordinary middle-class people to contribute to a fund that big and reach your goal in just a few years if you could prove to their satisfaction that the plan would work.

Musk also said Tesla would have full self driving by the end of 2017. The man understands very little.

OK but what was UNICEF's plan then? Get him to donate six bil and only then let him know that it wasn't going to be nearly enough but too late no refunds?

Fair enough, though we likely produce enough food to actually end world hunger NOW with a decent surplus on top of that. We just choose not to.

At the very least, we produce more than enough food to feed everyone in the US, with plenty to spare. But that's not profitable.
Well, the US isn't the only nation with a large surplus in food(though we do likely have the largest surplus)

The US also spends over a trillion dollars annually on the military. They could divert a tiny fraction of that and use it to ship the surplus of food to places where it's needed. There are a ton of problems the US could solve very easily this way and the military wouldn't even notice the difference in budget.

No one elected Musk and very little of what he is doing is legal. It is Congress, not some random rich guy, who is granted the power of the purse, because the citizens deserve to have a say, through their elected representatives, in how the government spends their tax dollars. Federal civil servants are protected by law from purges, because the federal bureaucracy is supposed to serve the people of the United States, not to merely function as courtiers and enforcers of whim for some entitled billionaire who nobody has ever voted for.
