Trumpers keep using the word "corruption", but they don't use it the way we use it. To anyone with even the most elementary grasp of law or civic theory, "corruption" in government is people using public office for personal gain: something Trump and Musk do in public every day.
But to Trumpers, "corruption" in government has a more religious and puritanical meaning. To them, it refers to sin. It refers to bad people, bad movements, bad ideologies, etc. gaining a foothold in society and government. To the Trumpers, "corruption" is literally whenever a Democrat holds power.
That's why they believed they were fighting corruption by electing Trump, and they STILL believe they are fighting corruption. They believe he is rooting out and destroying corruption because in their minds, "corruption" means "sinners", and "sinners" means "liberals". When they speak of "eliminating corruption", they mean "eliminating liberals".
Words have power, but they can also mean completely different things to different people.
