The frustrating thing is that the Joes have a jet that could make a decent Starscream, and Cobra has the perfect Powerglide.

I wonder how MOBAT Prime will work. Because up until now they've prioritized the toys having basically all the features of the original vehicles, and the MOBAT not only has functional treads but is motorized...

You're right about that, but I'd agree with that choice on Hasbro's part.

I'd actually not mind it as Brawn (and for more than the Scioli TF/GIJoe reference), but even that name's not going to be more likely than those two.

Going back to this; Brawn is one of their go to G1 guys. Like He might not be an A tier guy, but certainly B and at worst C.

We got the SS86 version and his dead self, we got the POTP one, he was also made into a Titanmaster. He was one of the few characters they made from Bumblebee Movie, then before that he had a Bayverse toy that is still one of the better toys of its era. Brawn's always getting new toys. He's usually one of the first minibots after Bumblebee and Cliffjumper to get toys.

I would be cool with this Starscream:

And there's always Viper, with Powerglide as a Tiger Force Tiger Rat redeco:

I would hope they would forego the motorized treads in order to simplify the transformation. Otherwise, it's going to take a lot more engineering to work around them, and be crazy expensive. As long as the figures can interact just like the original (which is actually pretty basic on the MOBAT, just a turret seat, if I recall), I think the main objective is satisfied.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Alright: Hiss tank Megatron!

Go look at my review for striker bumblebee. Basically it all applies here. The joints are pretty much better across the board, and the canopy of the tank becomes a very heavy, very putting off balance piece of kibble off his back when in robot mode. BUT! The tank is awesome looking in vehicle mode, and it holds together fairly well. And it just look awesome either way if you can get it balanced on it's feet.

But the core precept remains: it's a playset for the included figure. I'm kind of happy they did it this way instead of badly out of scale "partners" figures like they did during the movie lines.

Still not impressed when compared to more mainline figure toolings... but still happy with my decisions and purchases.

Edit: I had a thought while I was doing the dishes, they did this sub-line a massive disservice by not giving the cybertronians articulated hands. Being able to pick up and hold or interact with the human characters in a bunch of different ways. Are you honestly telling me megatron won't hold someone by their shirt and dangle them in front of his face, or that soundwave would grab and hurl a human when he was annoyed by them?
