It’s Thursday, which means that Hasbro has brought to us another Fanstream celebration of the 40th anniversary of Transformers. And while some of today’s reveals got leaked a little early, at least now we can provide you with a clearer look and more details, plus a thing or two that we haven’t already seen here yet.
If you haven’t caught it yet, here’s the video:
But if you prefer something a little more static, then it should come as no shock that yes, we’ve got you covered.
First up, they revealed the best way to celebrate anything: With currency!
Well, maybe not legal tender, strictly speaking, but a coin nonetheless:
These went on sale on the Hasbro Pulse website for $14.99 USD each with a limit of three per customer, which we’re sure absolutely stopped speculators and scalpers from buying up massive quantities, and that their entire now sold-out stock has gone to legitimate fans.
What’s the difference between a coin and a medallion? We don’t know, but if faction insignias are more your bag, then this set brings you two of them!
This even more limited run is even more expensive, running you $39.99 USD for the pair on Hasbro Pulse. Or at least it would, if their allotment of the 5,000 worldwide wasn’t sold out faster than you can flip a coin/medallion.
Don’t worry, we’re sure to have something here that hasn’t sold out yet… ah! Perfect! I don’t think this is even available to order yet:
Originally released only on vinyl in 2018, they are re-releasing this album containing music from the original Generation One version of the Transformers cartoon. They say it has music from seasons 1 through 3, but considering season 4 was only three episodes long and reused music from the previous seasons, I think we’re allowed to count it. Heck, we might even be able to count season 5 (minus the movie), too!
This album touts the original theme song (always preferred the season 3 version, personally, not counting Lion’s rendition) and 45 minutes’ worth of music from the original composers. What’s more, they were remastered here by one of the original composers, the late, great Rob Walsh and Sony Music. The two-disc album also contains two bonus tracks — an unreleased track and a remix of the theme — totalling 42 overall.
The album will be available in July, with copies available at San Diego Comic-Con.
You can check out a preview of the remixed theme and see artist Matt Ferguson create art for the covers and inserts, starting at 22:10 in the video above, and said remix is available today across Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. They say that this is the first time they’ve made official Transformers music available digitally, though it’s a little unclear whether they mean just this one remix, or the whole album. (Hopefully the whole album, because not all of us are equipped to play vinyl.)
Moving right along, it’s Transformers Collaborative‘s latest worst kept secret, Party Wallop, who transforms into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ ’80s version of the Turtle Van (or “Party Wagon,” if you must, even though it was never called that in the show).
That’s right — with this one figure, you can make up to five separate characters! And at $49.99 USD over on Hasbro Pulse (where — surprise — they aren’t sold out), this is where we watch our wallets and bank accounts die, Raphael. Cowabummer!
Incidentally, I think the video has some stills that weren’t featured on Hasbro Pulse, so check it out to see even more of what it’s capable of.
That’s not all from the Collaborative line, though! With Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire heating up theaters, they’re reissuing their first collaboration, Ectotron!
On Hasbro Pulse, the price is $49.99, but it turns out they’re sold out, anyway. It ships around September 1st, anyway, so who knows? You might not even care by then. Or maybe it’s perfectly timed for the Blu-ray release of Frozen Empire, we don’t know. But if you nab one at retail, you can pair it up with Party Wallop so the two teams can meet up for a third time! (Yes, it’s already happened twice.)
