He-Man, and also the Masters of the Universe

It just hit me, of what feels like the logic behind this is. An animated Joker voiced Skeletor in the new animated series, and that was received well. So obviously they had to hire a live action Joker for the Live action movie. Nicholson is too old, Ledger is too dead, Phoenix just bombed big time, so there's only one "big name" Joker left.

While that does make an alarming kind of since, Phoenix only bombed in one of two of his movies. The other was very highly regarded. Between Joker, Morbius... feel like I'm forgetting one...but Leto has been box office poison.

I may watch it if it's free to stream on Amazon just out of sheer morbid curiosity. But any positive expectations just went out the window.

As I said, he just bombed. But that bomb kinda taints his whole Joker. The only one Live Action Joker I can think of, that was a major character; is the one from Gotham who could never actually be called Joker. But he doesn't have the same draw. And Leto is only poison to geek stuff, Leto was in 'House of Gucci' from just a few years ago which is generally considered to be a good movie and one of his best. He was also in Fight Club and American Psycho, both well received movies.

Just did an IMDB search. That was also him in Requiem For a Dream. It's one of those movies you only ever want to watch once. Great movie, but once is enough.

And I'll be honest, no one looked good in Suicide Squad. No one looked good in Batman and Robin, but looking at the names that stared in it, I find it hard to put a whole lot of blame on the actors.

Don't get me wrong. I still have a sour feeling in the pit of my stomach just hearing Jared's name put to this. But it's also the same guy who did Bumblebee...the one live action TF movie I actually enjoyed.

I don't know. I stand by my previous statements about my hopes for this being killed. But maybe...just maybe...

Well, can't bring myself to even type the rest of that hopeful platitude. But if it's free to stream on Amazon, I may watch it just out of curiosity.

I really hope that isn't the logic, because something that stupid makes me lose hope for any other aspect of the movie coming from under such an umbrella of decision making.

Well, I managed to get a slight bit ahead and I had been looking at Vypor and Necro-Conda for a long time. I did actually order one of Vypor and two of the glow-snakes.

I am very happy with 2/3 of the purchase, and I can't complain at all about BBTS customer service. Vypor is great, but (and this is entirely Mattel) both Necro-Condas had issues. In one case a malformed arm joint was broken in-package. The other has a defective waist that falls apart if poked. I contacted BBTS asking if I could potentially get a spare arm, thinking I can probably figure out the rest, but they just gave me store credit on one of the Necro-condas and said I did not need to return the broken one. So I built one good solid one from the set and I am keeping the other as parts (what ones are still good anyway). I also hair-dryered one of the glow-belts to fit on the snake tail because for some reason, they don't fit at all out of the box. So now I have two lower torsos, one legs one tail, both with the armor.

The weapons were clearly cast with intent to glow in the dark, but do NOT have the actual glow chemical in the plastic. They're the right color, but missing the ability.

So end result: I gave Vypor the silver snake staff from the Infiltrator Guard, as it looked better with him. I have a really great glow in the dark snake man. And I have some useful parts for ideas later. I am very happy with the resolution. But I also think this may be my last MOTU Origins purchase at normal price, because had it BEEN really normal price, it would have been largely a waste. I've heard many others having similar issues with the NecroConda and the Mattel Creations stuff seems to have an iffy reputation too. I may just hold onto that store credit for when my last preorder I have comes in (water bug models I was going to use professionally), as I'm not sure there's much point in getting another of the same snake if 2 of 2 had errors that could only be fixed by making one out of them.

What happened to he-man.org?

Is He-man dead?

Did the fans give up?
Shut down over a year ago.

As for the franchise being dead: It has:
  • Toys in regular retail
  • Comics
  • Though new animation has a question mark over it, at least it had some within the past year
  • They appear to be super-serious about making this movie happen.
I dare say that's a much better position than the last 20 years or so.

Unless your website is THE site on the internet for your fandom: they generally do not make money. It's a passion project for the owners and operators. Yes, even the allspark.

By THE site I’m assuming you mean being a part of Mattel or Hasbro.

Didn’t he-man.org work with Mattel and doesn’t AllSpark work with Hasbro?

I guess they won’t let people make money off their properties unless they get a cut.

By THE site means that a majority of consumer base frequents such a site. Tens of thousands, if not more, daily visits. The internet is too fractured for any one site to garner that sort of exposure. Especially in the days of social media where there are a TON of fans who might not even frequent forums like Allspark or TFW.
That’s why some sites (like the TNI Network which includes Tformers) are LOADED with ads- the owners are trying to AT LEAST cover costs of operating those sites, much less make money.

I can’t speak to He-Man.org and Mattel, but Hasbro has NEVER worked together with fan sites in the sort of official capacity you’re thinking of. There are too many, too many different people with too many different agendas. That isn’t to say that professionals who have worked for Hasbro haven’t cropped up on fan sites (Joe Kyde is a former Hasbro employee), but Hasbro, nominally, doesn’t directly interact with fan venues. As is, the recent allowing of Employees (under their own names, even)to share behind the scenes stuff on Instagram is a rather new “thing” for them.

That said, Hasbro DOES acknowledge the fan sites as being a vital part of the “fan channel” and is not afraid of leveraging the exposure of sites like Allspark, TFW, or Tformers in the purpose of marketing. Like, every few years the marketing teams gets a hair up their butt and send the administrators/owners of sites like Allspark a merchandise box for the purpose of those sites reporting on new initiatives featured in said box and taking pictures (which help fuel the marketing angle). Hasbro does maintain a PR department who (at least usually) send out “official” images and material pertaining to new stuff.

You have to pay to operate a website?

Isn’t the internet supposed to be the wild wild west?

I’ve never built a website but don’t you just do some programming and launch it somewhere on the internet.

Why do you have to go thru a middle-man?

Why do you have to go thru a middle-man?

Even in the wild west, you had to pay for land to own or a shop to rent before you could open up a business.
